My family moved to GP in January 1965, middle of my sophomore year... and NO, we are not related to anyone in Grants Pass or anywhere in Oregon. My paternal grandfather's surname was changed at Ellis Island in the late 1800's from Smolej when he arrived from the Slovakia area of the then-Austro-Hungarian empire. I spent one year at U of Portland, then in May 1968 discovered none of my credit hours were transferable... major bummer. But this caused me to change my major from education to accounting. I am still number-crunching, currently working as the corporate bookkeeper for a real estate/property management firm here in Bellingham. I married my soul-mate, Denny, in November 1968, and we have been together ever since. We raised two great sons; one is married. Denny and I have been living in Bellingham, WA since Fall 1992, and love it! The best of both worlds, the Puget Sound and Mt. Baker! We've done a lot as a family throughout the years; since early 2002 we have been supporting our oldest, Scott, in Clean Racing, his business. He is crew chief for a pro-rally car racing team, MozartRacing.com (check us out on the website for a family photo) 2006 US National Pro-Rally co-champs!
